Breakfast for Dinner

Sorry I haven't been posting, I've been too busy doing absolutely nothing. I love it. Anyway, my family had breakfast for dinner tonight, complete with my mom's famous pancakes. I ate three pancakes and some bacon and some milk and haven't worked out since last Wednesday. #oops. Here's a pic for ya.

Cake Pops

So. I'm sitting in Starbucks (and the manager is yelling at one of the employees and I can't tell if she's kidding or not. #awkward) waiting for my next class to start and be over so I can finally finally finally go home and I have come up with a baking project for Spring Break: Cake Pops. There they were, sitting in the Starbucks display case looking beyond words cute. I don't even like cake, but I wanted to buy one just to look at it. (I didn't). I immediately googled them and decided I am making them over spring break. I'm so excited. Uh oh. Time for class. Check out how cute these are:

Smile

you make me smile like the sun
fall out of bed,
sing like a bird,
dizzy in my head,
spin like a record,
crazy on a sunday night,
you make me dance like a fool,
forget how to breathe,
shine like gold,
buzz like a bee.
just the thought of you can drive me wild
oh, you make me smile.

I hope you found something that made you smile today. I was a total cranky pants earlier (as I usually am on Wednesdays) but I got a nice voicemail when I got out of lab today that made me really happy.
Spring Break is so close. OMG.

Happy Birthday Reese

I should be studying, but this "How We Breathe" diagram is really boring me and I haven't been blogging lately, so why not? Today is Reese Witherspoon's birthday and she is my fave actress. She's so cute and she's short, so we're pretty much twins. Kidding. But She always has cute stuff that compliments her short frame. She also just created her own perfume and works with Avon to raise awareness about domestic violence against women. I love love love all her movies, especially the Legally Blondes and Sweet Home Alabama. She was recently on After Lately and it was probably the best episode ever. She's also getting married this weekend to her agent, Jim. Presh. She's pretty much fab all around.
Peace. Love. Blondes.

Breakfast and Bed

Today was the first not busy Saturday in a long time. It's been fabulous. I slept late and even stayed in bed for a long time after I woke up. Then I did some straightening up and went and got some coffee. There is a Sex and the City marathon on today, so that only added to this great Saturday. Then I had strawberries and Nutella with my coffee for breakfast and it was so good. It had everything a meal should: protein, carbs, sugar, fruit and caffeine. I've been working on homework and relaxing and might work out. We'll see. Here's a pic of my breakfast. Be jealous everyone.

Girls Next Door

So Rose and I have the best door around. We like to decorate it with the funniest things. It all started when we got locked out of our room within the first 30 seconds of our parents leaving us for the first time. No, seriously, they were down the hall. We didn't want that to happen ever again, so I stuck at Post-It on the door that says, "Key!" And from there it really took off. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.
The Door in all its glory.
We have a list of funny things we say in the middle of the night. I talk (and sometimes yell apparently?) in my sleep a lot. I also smile according to Rose. We have the funniest conversations. We haven't had as many lately. We think it's because we're used to living with each now and we really don't wake the other that often. We are also both big fans of Jess on Gilmore Girls (Jess>Dean) so we just wanted to inform everyone which side we're on.
I also need to remind myself to bring my lunch sometimes, so we have a "Lunch!" Post It.
We just added "The Creepers" tonight. We have both recently had encounters with some odd people. Like all the people who call me by my name at work that I have never met before. (I do wear a name tag, but they say it like we're besties) and old guys who ask if Michael Jackson got into heaven. Stay tuned for that. Actually, I hope we don't have to add more for a long time. We also have some notes Ben took for us on Pretty Little Liars that make no sense and are therefore very funny. One of the girls on our floor was in a show and we wrote her a note telling her she did a good job and she wrote back. We're so nice.

This is my fave thing on our door. This was the note Rose gave me to tell me she was going to Mizzou and that we would be roomies! It also had a list of the top 10 things we would need for our dorm. Love it. Wow, that was so long ago. Crazy.

If you would like to see your note posted on our door, please contact Rose and Caren with a note about how much you love us.

Pretty

I see a lot of hands at my job. (I swipe cards at a location I'm not sharing on the internet) Some hands are big, some are small, some are germy, (seriously, I can tell) some are gloved. And some have really pretty nails! I love painting my nails, it's such a stress reliever and they always look so good afterwards! I sort of like manicures, but they always hurt and make my fingers bleed. And I'm like why am I paying for you to make me bleed when I could do this at home and use a Hello Kitty band-aid? Anyway, I've been noticing a lot cute colors lately. I've seen a lot of pretty pinks and blues for spring. Like this:

Ok, but I also love flip flops and sandals and I really want some with a flower on them. Like these from JCrew:

Ok and  I am totally doing this for my room at home over spring break! I love flowers and these are so pretty!

Wow, this post is so colorful! I love it!

Rose and I did a lot of spring cleaning yesterday and our room smells and looks springy fresh and our window is open right now and life is good! I'm just obsessed with spring (....is it really supposed to snow again?)

I hope you love this as much as I do.

Hiii

Holla Holla,
Sorry I've been neglecting Carenpants. Here's what's been up lately:
Friday: Redid the blog! Do you like? I love.
Saturday: Danced it out from noon to midnight. We didn't sit down for 12 hours and we learned a bunch of dances and we met some awesome families who had benefitted form the Children's Miracle Network. The kids were so cute and the parents were so grateful, so it really helped us stay motivated. One family all knew how to dougie and the mom rapped for us and it was probably the best part of the night.
Sunday: Woke up at 2 pm, showered, took a nap because the shower wore me out, then watched a bunch of TV and ordered dinner with the roomie. She's got me addicted to Army Wives and now we've started watching this show calling Coming Home about military families who surprise their kids and we pretty much just cry the whole hour because it's so great. Then we watch After Lately for some humor and to balance out the night. Then I pop a Benadryl and pass out because I have work really early Monday Mornings. I'm not a druggie, I promise. I just can't sleep on my own/function on 2 hours of sleep.
Today: Snow. Wtf. After class I came home and slept and it was glorious. Let's just call it 10 days until spring break? Cool.

          10 DAYS
Back to regular posting tomorrow.
Love ya,

Study Break

I've been bad about blogging and I'm sorry. Exams have been distracting me a lot a lot a lot. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to catch up for a few days because I'm doing a Dance Marathon this weekend from noon-midnight Saturday. Here are some pictures of studying econ. At least my notes are pretty.
If anyone can explain what any of this means to me, that would be fab and I would love you forever! Seriously, what do all these graphs mean? There are way too many triangles in my life right now. "Holiday in the Sun" by Weezer just came on my Pandora right now. If only!
Importing means happy consumers and sad producers. Exporting means happy producers and sad consumers. Econ means a sad Caroline.

Good Old Pointless Post

I've had a request to write one of my old blog posts and I'm happy to oblige because I need to whine. So yesterday, I decided to take an abs class that I took all the time last semester, which was such a great idea because I can hardly move today. I also had two exams this morning and I have econ on Friday. Also, today is Ash Wednesday, which means we're supposed to be fasting, so that means no coffee and I'm contemplating giving up DP for lent. Just call me crankypants instead of carenpants. Ugh and I'm headed to bio lab in five minutes and it is sure to be just torturous. And then to work to stand for three hours. And then home to work on stage two of my bio exam. And then I'm not doing anything because I hate school! Also, I just spilled ranch on my sweatshirt and I don't have a tide to go pen on me, which is stupid because what is the point? UGH. Sorry everyone. Time for bio.

Take Care Tuesday

Ugh, what a gross day. I really just wanted to sit around with coffee and listen to some sad Taylor Swift and Jack's under a blanket. I'm not even sad. Stressed, yes. Sad, no. "Here Comes the Sun" came on my Ipod today and it didn't even make me happy because I knew the Sun wasn't coming today and there were no smiles returning to any faces. Anyway, hopefully this post will make you smile. No, really. This post is about taking care of your teeth. If you're interested in hearing my dental history, please refer to my post, "Growing Pains."
A few tips:

http://www.3dwhite.com/crest-products
/3D-white-vivid-toothpaste.aspx
1. Brush them. I think everyone knows that. Go for three minutes. I think you can handle it.
2. Floss them. Get mint flavored floss, it makes it so fun!
3. Wear your retainer! I always wear mine when I sleep and if I'm going to be studying a lot because I get tense and it keeps me from grinding my teeth.

/crest-products/large/3D-White-Whitening-Rinse.pn
g
4. Try to stay away from dark soda, coffee or wine. That is much easier said than done, (except in the case of wine, ick) so that brings us to our next tip....
5. Whiten your teeth. A lot of toothpastes have a whitening ingredient in them, so that helps a lot. Whitening strips are also
available, but those are usually pretty expensive, so I like to use whitening Mouthwash. I use the Crest brand because it's the same as my toothpaste. I just started using it and have had coffee both days, so I will keep you posted on how white they look.

Brush on,
Caren

Money Money Monday

I'm sorry this is so late, crazy busy week!
Anyway, this Monday post will be about saving money on haircare, or more specifically, shampoo and conditioner.
1. If you are between brands, I would recommend buying the sample sizes until you pick one you want. They are a lot cheaper and smaller, so if you don't like it, you're not wasting $6.00 worth of product and taking up valuable space in the shower.
2. Once you are certain you are going to stick with a brand, I would get a big size. I got two giant bottles of Tresemee at Sam's in August and I haven't had to buy any shampoo or conditioner (ok, that's a lie, the water here turns my hair green, so I had to get swimmer's shampoo to get the chlorine out) all year. They were probably around $6.00 (if I remember correctly) for 44 ounces. I used to spend so much money on shampoo and conditioner every few months.
3. I was worried the bottles would be too big for my shower basket,  (I love college!) but no worries, they fit perfectly.
4. Sometimes buying in large quantities can be more expensive. Be sure to shop around a little bit. Places like Wal-Mart, Sam's, Target and sometimes even Walgreens have big bottles for fairly cheap.

Happy shopping,
Carengreenhair

Catch Up

Went home this weekend. Didn't update the blog. Can't stay awake right now. +/- 3 weeks until spring break. Sorry for not real sentences. Ryan and I made chocolate strawberries. Here's a pic:

Feel Good Friday

Friday posts will be dedicated to feeling good and helping others. My sophomore theology teacher/Pax Christi Moderator/Biggest Fan/Social Justice Teacher/ showed me this website. It's called freerice.com. It's really fun (if you like words) because it gives you a word and you have to match it with the closest definition and for every question you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice through the World Food Program. Kind of cool, right? It helps you brush up on your vocab (it can help with the ACT too!) and you're helping people while you're doing it.
Editor's Note: I am not being paid to advertise anything, I just want to have a variety of things to write about. If you know of anything that would be good for this section of the blog, please let me know, I'd love to hear it!
Try it if you have 10 minutes to spare!

Thank Goodness Thursday

I know, I know, it's not Thursday anymore. I'm so sorry. I started this post last night, but got distracted with Jersey Shore, pizza, some bright yellow shorts, skype and lots of clothes strewn all over my room. Anyway, last night at Rollins we had watermelon and strawberries as part of healthy eating week or something. I love strawberries and watermelon, but especially watermelon. We once had a watermelon eating contest where I work as a camp counselor and I lost miserably, but it was so fun! Anyway, Thursday posts will be about things I'm thankful for besides the obvious: awesome people, education, house, a job, etc. These things will be out of the ordinary things that I am glad exist because they make me happy. I am thankful for watermelon. It reminds me of summer and it's so good. Plus, Watermelon SourPatch Kids are my weakness. They are just SO good and cute. Doesn't this picture scream summer? It reminds me of Michigan and Innsbrook :)

Work It Wednesday

I don't know if you're like me, but I hateee washing my hair. The whole process takes forever. First I have to take out the crazy bun, then brush it, then get it wet, lather it with shampoo, rinse, condition, rinse, brush it, blah blah blah, wait for hours for it to dry and then put it back into the bun it started in. I really try to avoid it. And no, that's not gross. I still take a regular shower, it's called "spraying off." You're not even supposed to wash your hair every day because it dries it out and fades the color. Anyway, sometimes I just can't deal with my hair, so I have 3 options.
1. Headband. This generally only works for the half the day because I have a small head and nothing fits, or they give me a headache.
2. Dry Shampoo. I like dry shampoo, but sometimes the smell is too strong and gives me a headache.
3. The Baseball Hat. I'm a girly-girl at heart, but baseball hats are one of the best gifts to humankind. My mom can always pull of the baseball hat, so I've decided I can too. They are such a beautiful thing. The baseball hat says, "I'm busy and on the go and may or may not be trying to hide from people." Kidding. But baseball hats can be so cute and practical.

Special thanks to my model, Wesley. Work it, Wesley!
Don't be insecure boy, own that baseball hat, work that cap!

Hats off to you.

Caren

Take Care Tuesday

Hello friends, sorry this is so late, I had to take a nap today and watch a lot of Everwood and clean. Anyway, on Tuesdays, I will be giving tips for taking care of things. This post is about taking care of clothes, black clothes in particular. I literally own more black than anyone I know because it matches everything! Anyway, it's important to take care of black items of clothing because they look really bad if they fade! So here are a few tips for keeping them looking fabuloussss:

1. Read the label! More, importantly, follow the directions on the label.
2. When in doubt, wash on cold with similar colors. (You'll find that's what most directions say anyway.)
3. Skip the dryer if you can. Our dryers at school are high efficiency and really fade and shrink my clothes.
4. If you must dry, try only doing so for 15 minutes or so and then hang them to dry.
Check your washer to see if it's high efficiency. If so, make sure to get high efficiency detergent.

Hope this helps!
Love,
Caren
